Welcome to the Psychology Research Institute at the University of Ulster.

The Research Institute is home to a lively and dynamic group of researchers, drawn mainly from the University’s School of Psychology, but also including members from the Schools of Communication and Policy Studies.

The mix is an eclectic one, although the team divides broadly into four research groups. These are Behavioural Neuroscience, Peace and Conflict, Health Psychology, and Measurement and Statistical Modelling.

Researchers within the Institute have attracted external funding of over 6 million pounds since 2001 from the BBSRC, ESRC, EPSRC, The Wellcome Trust, The National Institute of Health, The Templeton and Russell Sage Foundations, as well as many other sources.

State of the art experimental facilities have been purpose built to support our behavioural neuroscience researchers and a SRIF 3 funded upgrade of human experimental facilities was completed in 2006. An active group of postgraduate students plays a fundamental part in our ongoing research programmes, and there are currently many postgraduate research opportunities available for prospective students.

Institute staff have a strong track record not only in grantmaking and publication in scientific journals, but also in the preparation of reports and evaluations based on variety of real-world issues.
