Welcome to the web site of the Geophysics Research Group.
Our main research focus is earthquake physics and we are particularly interested in how earthquakes trigger subsequent earthquakes and the factors that control the timing of such events.
Currently, we are modeling the next likely earthquake and tsunami in the Indian Ocean and we have recently exhibited this work at the Royal Society Summer Science Exhibition in London and Glasgow.
All of our research is underpinned by the understanding that heterogeneity and non-linearity are of first order importance in natural processes and in this context we are also contributing to the understanding of fluid flow in complex fractured media.
